About Camp Henderson

Located atop Crumhorn Mountain in the town of Maryland, Henderson Scout Reservation has served as Otschodela Council’s summer camp since 1948.

We’re located 15 minutes northeast of Oneonta and just 20 minutes south of historic Cooperstown. We have 11 campsites, a modern dining hall and kitchen facility (newly renovated), a camp store, health lodge, and chapel, along with permanent buildings in most of our program areas.

Insurance

Health and accident insurance is provided for all boys attending camp. The camp insurance will cover the first $300 of expense. If there is other insurance covering the boy, the balance of the bill will be submitted to the other insurance carrier.

If there is no other insurance coverage or the second policy limits are reached, then the camp policy will again go into effect. Please be sure to indicate on your son’s health and medical record if there is another insurance policy in effect.

Certified and Inspected

Fully accredited by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

• Inspected at least twice a year by the New York State Department of Health.
• Granted an operating permit by the New York State Department of Health.

Copies of our camp’s inspections are on file at the Council Service Center and at the Oneonta office of the NYS Department of Health.
