Medication Needs and Dispersal
All medications for chronic health problems are placed under supervision of the camp nurse. Boys may carry inhalers and epi-pens after discussing there use with the medical officer. Medications are administered by the camp nurse according to the instructions given by the issuing doctor. It is recorded that the medications were taken on: (1) master chart, (2) camper’s personal medical record, and (3) first aid log book.
Dietary
The kitchen staff after meeting parents can alter ingredients or cooking method to meet the needs of the Scout. If the Scout requires different food items parents can bring items from home and will be secured in the pantry or cooler.
Medical
Serious medical concerns can be discussed before camp. In some situations parents are asked to attend camp with their son to closely monitor his condition. There will be no charge for a parent.
Staff Notification of Needs
Sunday evening a meeting is held with Scoutmasters and the camp staff and they are made aware of the special situations and medical conditions that may exist with their campers.
If you have any questions regarding specific needs please contact the council by phone or e-mail us.
