Camp Theme in '08

2008 Henderson Scout Reservation Camp Theme

Corroboree

  • When: Thursday nights 7:15pm at 1920ft. above sea level
  • What: Celebration of the 2008 “DOWN UNDER” Theme
  • Corroboree: an Aboriginal event usually held around a fresh water billabong, involving games,  playing the didgeridoo, food, and dream talking.
  • Dress: Down Under Australian garb (Crocodile Dundee) or respectful Aboriginal costumes

Each Troops need to bring:

  1. Game or Activity to share at the Corroboree - including a skit or story
  2. Ingredients for Goanna Roast marinade we will supply ¼ pound of Goanna (parts) and skewers
  3. Aboriginal Rock Painting:  12”x12”x 1” thick field, quarried or manufactured rock with aboriginal designs.

Rocks will be displayed at the Corroboree gallery and judged. A Troop may bring as many rocks as they wish to camp.

Additional Events will include:

  • Kangaroo Races               
  • Pie Floater Event (meat pie floating on a thick pea puree)
  • Chain gang race
  • Dunny (toilet) Run          
  • Matilda Race (pack with swagman’s essentials)
  • Primitive fire building    
  • Chunder Toss   (from “watch out under” yelled by seasick convicts on longship transports sailing to Australia)
